Executive Function & Work Style

“I know what needs to happen. Getting myself into position to do it is the problem.”

Sometimes the problem is not determining what matters.

You know.

The report needs to be written.
The email needs to be sent.
The project needs to start.
The follow-up needs to happen.

And yet there can still be a substantial gap between understanding the task and initiating, sequencing, transitioning into, or completing it.

Mission & Momentum provides neurodivergent-informed support for that gap.

This may be useful if:

  • Starting certain tasks requires a disproportionate amount of effort
  • Large or ambiguous projects become difficult to enter
  • You lose track of tasks once they are no longer directly in front of you
  • You regularly underestimate transitions, preparation, or completion time
  • You have trouble reorienting after meetings or interruptions
  • You create organizational systems but struggle to maintain them
  • You need external accountability to keep something moving
  • You work better when another person is present
  • Working memory feels like an unreliable place to run an organization
  • Written or verbal workplace communication takes much more energy than outsiders realize
  • Your capacity varies significantly from one day or week to another
  • Conventional productivity advice seems written for a person you have never met

We might work on:

Task initiation
Make the first step small and specific enough that starting becomes possible.

Project breakdown
Turn “finish the strategic plan” into actual actions instead of leaving it as one enormous cognitive object.

Body doubling
Work alongside another person while you start, continue, or finish something difficult.

Accountability
Create external structure around an action you have repeatedly intended to complete.

Working-memory support
Get responsibilities and commitments out of your head and into systems you can actually find and use.

Transitions
Plan for the cognitive cost of switching between meetings, deep work, administrative tasks, and different kinds of responsibilities.

Communication preparation
Clarify what you need to say before a meeting, difficult conversation, boundary discussion, or important email.

Systems that fit your work style
Adapt the system to the person rather than repeatedly attempting to adapt the person to the system.

Neurodivergent-informed does not mean diagnosis required

Mission & Momentum is designed with ADHD, autism, AuDHD, executive-function differences, sensory considerations, variable capacity, and different communication and processing styles in mind.

But you do not need a diagnosis to work with me.

You do not need to know whether you are neurodivergent.

You do not need to decide whether your difficulty is technically “executive dysfunction.”

If the thing that is supposed to help you work is not helping you work, we can look at what is happening and build from there.
