FAQ

You do not need to know exactly what kind of support you need before you reach out.

Mission & Momentum supports both individuals carrying complicated work and organizations trying to move important work forward.

If you know something needs more clarity, structure, capacity, or follow-through, that is enough of a place to start.

What exactly is Mission & Momentum?

Mission & Momentum provides two kinds of support:

Individual Work Support
Practical, nonclinical support for professionals who need help with workload, priorities, executive function, projects, capacity, or follow-through.

Organization & Business Support
Strategic and hands-on support for nonprofits, mission-driven businesses, founders, and small organizations working through projects, campaigns, fundraising, messaging, planning, or capacity challenges.

Sometimes the work is about supporting the person.

Sometimes it is about supporting the organization.

Sometimes it becomes clear that both matter.

Is individual work support coaching?

Not in the traditional credentialed-coaching sense.

The work is practical and focused on what is happening now.

We may talk through a decision or identify a pattern, but we may also sort your actual workload, break down a project, draft the difficult email, prepare for a meeting, or work together while you start the thing you have opened seven times without actually beginning.

You do not have to spend the whole session talking about the work instead of doing the work.

Is Mission & Momentum consulting?

The Organization & Business Support side is consulting.

Depending on the engagement, I may provide strategy, facilitation, fundraising or messaging support, project planning, implementation help, or short-term fractional capacity.

I am not a full-service marketing, fundraising, HR, legal, or accounting firm. When a project requires expertise outside my scope, I will say so.

Do you only work with nonprofit professionals?

No.

Nonprofit work is an area of particular expertise because of my background in nonprofit and community-centered leadership.

I understand the realities of boards, funders, grants, staff supervision, program delivery, restricted resources, community obligations, and the nonprofit tradition of having multiple simultaneous “top priorities.”

But Mission & Momentum can also support:

  • Business owners
  • Founders
  • Managers
  • Consultants
  • Department heads
  • Executives
  • Project leaders
  • Other professionals carrying complex responsibility

The broader fit is:

people carrying more work than one person can reasonably contain.

Do you only work with nonprofits?

No.

Nonprofit and community-centered work is an area of particular expertise because that is where I spent much of my career.

I also work with mission-driven businesses, founders, small organizations, leaders, managers, consultants, and other professionals carrying complicated responsibility.

The common denominator is not a particular tax status.

It is work that matters and could use some support moving forward.

Do I need an ADHD or autism diagnosis?

No.

Individual work support is neurodivergent-informed, but it is not neurodivergent-exclusive.

You may be ADHD, autistic, AuDHD, otherwise neurodivergent, unsure, formally diagnosed, self-identified, or not neurodivergent at all.

Maybe your brain works differently.

Maybe your role has grown.

Maybe your capacity has changed.

Maybe you are simply carrying too much.

We can work with what is actually happening without requiring a label first.

Is individual work support therapy?

No.

Mission & Momentum does not provide psychotherapy, diagnosis, mental-health treatment, medical advice, or crisis services.

We may talk about overwhelm, frustration, avoidance, capacity, or the emotional weight of work because humans have an inconvenient tendency to bring their nervous systems to their jobs.

But the purpose of our work remains practical and professional.

Mission & Momentum can complement therapy. It does not replace it.

Can we actually work on the thing during an individual session?

Yes. Please do.

Bring the board packet.

Bring the presentation.

Bring the project plan.

Bring the email you keep avoiding.

Bring the document you have opened repeatedly and stared at with increasing resentment.

We can work on the actual thing together.

What kinds of organizational projects do you take on?

Projects vary, but Mission & Momentum may be a good fit when you need help with things such as:

  • strategy and planning
  • fundraising strategy
  • case-for-support development
  • messaging and communications
  • campaign planning
  • project development
  • priority and capacity planning
  • implementation
  • short-term or fractional strategic support

The first question is usually not “Which package do we need?”

It is:

“What are we trying to move, and what is getting in the way?”

Will you just give us recommendations, or can you help implement them?

Both are possible.

Some engagements are primarily strategic.

Others include drafting, organizing, coordinating, refining, developing materials, or helping keep the work moving after the strategy is decided.

I am generally more interested in useful implementation than producing an impressive document everyone agrees with and then quietly stores in Google Drive.

The scope is defined at the beginning of each organizational engagement.

What if our organization does not know exactly what it needs?

That is normal.

You do not need to diagnose the organizational problem before contacting someone to help with the organizational problem.

Tell me:

What are you trying to accomplish?

What feels stuck or unclear?

What is your current capacity?

We can figure out from there whether Mission & Momentum is a good fit and what kind of engagement makes sense.

Can an employer pay for individual work support?

Yes.

Organizations may sponsor Mission & Momentum services for an employee, manager, executive, or other team member as professional development or capacity support.

When an organization pays, we establish confidentiality and reporting expectations in writing before the work begins.

I do not quietly turn individual work support into performance evaluation.

Will you tell me what to do?

I will help you think clearly, identify options, understand tradeoffs, and make the work more manageable.

For individual support, you remain responsible for your professional decisions.

For organizational engagements, recommendations and decision-making roles are defined as part of the project scope.

Collaboration matters to me.

I bring experience, perspective, questions, structure, and practical support.

You bring knowledge of yourself, your organization, your mission, and the realities I cannot see from the outside.

How do I get started?

You do not need a polished explanation.

For individual support, you might start with:

“Here is what I am carrying.”

For an organization:

“Here is what we are trying to move.”

That is enough.

We can figure out the next step from there.
